Hailing from various parts of the country, Hot Lunch Bluegrass has
chosen to make Denver CO the home for their distinct blend of traditional,
contemporary and original bluegrass music. Though the band members
are fairly young, they try hard to preserve the time-honored, high-lonesome
sound created by people like Bill Monroe and the Stanley Brothers.
Though their vocal harmonies may be rooted in tradition, their instrumental
abilities are truly innovative. They work hard and enjoy challenging
themselves, always looking for inspiration both from within the bluegrass
tradition as well as through jazz, classical and more. Hot Lunch
Bluegrass juxtaposes the sound of yesterday with today and incorporates
this philosophy into a cohesive, hard-driving bluegrass style uniquely
their own. When you can hear these boys (and girl) a-callin
you know their hearts and minds are set on bringing the sounds of the
Appalachian hills to the city and beyond.
